Stiebel Eltron Ultronic Hand Dryer: Plus vs Premium Guide

Stiebel Eltron Ultronic Hand Dryer: Plus vs Premium Guide

The Stiebel Eltron Ultronic is a high-speed touchless hand dryer built for commercial restrooms that demand hygiene, quiet operation, and long service life. At 76 dB(A) — with an optional quiet mode that drops to 68 dB(A) — it is one of the quietest high-speed hand dryers available. Add a HEPA H13 filter, UV-C germicidal lamp, and ion generator for air purification, and the Ultronic does more than dry hands — it actively cleans the air in the restroom. Available in four configurations across two voltage models and two finishes, this guide covers every spec and everything you need to select and install the right Ultronic model.

PlumbersCrib.com carries all four Ultronic models in stock now. Contact our team or call 877-881-5501 Monday through Friday with any questions.

Ultronic Plus vs Ultronic Premium — what is the difference

The Ultronic comes in two finish options — Plus and Premium. All performance specs and features are identical between the two. The only difference is the housing material:

Ultronic Plus — robust polycarbonate housing in alpine white. 6.2 lbs. The right choice for most commercial restroom environments where durability and cost are the priorities.

Ultronic Premium — high-quality impact-resistant brushed stainless steel housing. 8.8 lbs. The right choice for upscale environments where the finish needs to complement stainless steel fixtures, or for high-traffic locations where vandal resistance is a consideration.

Ultronic-1 vs Ultronic-2 — voltage options

Ultronic-1 — 120V single phase. Draws 820W at 6.8A on a 15A circuit with 16 AWG wire. Standard choice for US installations where a 120V circuit is available.

Ultronic-2 — 240V/208V single phase. Draws 750W at 3.5A on a 15A circuit with 18 AWG wire. Lower amperage draw on the same 15A circuit — the right choice where 240V power is available or for international applications.

Both models can be hardwired or wired with a cord and plug. Select the voltage that matches the available circuit at the installation location. Both use the same mounting plate and installation procedure.

Ultronic Plus — Alpine White Polycarbonate

Available as Ultronic-1 Plus (205634) — 120V and Ultronic-2 Plus (205635) — 240V/208V.

Ultronic Premium — Brushed Stainless Steel

Available as Ultronic-1 Premium (205636) — 120V and Ultronic-2 Premium (205637) — 240V/208V.

Key features

12 second high-speed drying time. At 215 mph air speed and 49.5 CFM air volume, the Ultronic dries hands in 10 to 12 seconds — fast enough for high-traffic restrooms without the noise penalty that most high-speed dryers carry.

Exceptionally quiet — 76 dB(A) standard, 68 dB(A) quiet mode. At 76 dB(A) measured at 1 meter, the Ultronic is remarkably quiet for a high-speed hand dryer. The optional quiet mode reduces operating noise to 68 dB(A) — approximately 75% less noise than standard operation. For restrooms in libraries, schools, medical facilities, or upscale hospitality environments where noise is a genuine concern, the quiet mode is a meaningful differentiator.

HEPA H13 filter, UV-C germicidal lamp, and ion generator. The Ultronic goes beyond hand drying — it actively sanitizes the air it moves. The HEPA H13 filter captures airborne particles. The UV-C germicidal lamp kills airborne viruses. The ion generator adds negatively charged ions to the air that attach to airborne dust, bacteria, and viruses, causing them to sink to the ground rather than remain suspended. No other standard commercial hand dryer includes all three sanitization systems as standard equipment.

Air purification mode. When enabled, the Ultronic periodically switches on and off automatically to help clean the air in the restroom between hand drying events. The unit automatically switches back to hand drying mode when hands are detected, then returns to air purification mode. This does not replace a dedicated air purifier but supplements one in restroom environments where air quality is a priority.

Touchless infrared sensor. The Ultronic activates automatically when the infrared proximity sensor detects hands under the unit and stops immediately when hands are removed. No buttons, no levers, no contact required. The automatic stop — rather than a timed run cycle — saves energy compared to hand dryers that run for a predetermined time regardless of whether hands are still present.

Optional heating element. A heating element increases thermal comfort during hand drying but can be disabled for energy savings — particularly relevant in warm climate locations where heated air is unnecessary most of the year.

Maintenance-free brushless DC motor. No scheduled maintenance required — engineered for long service life in high-traffic commercial environments.

Simple plug and play installation. The Ultronic uses an integral mounting bracket for fast wall mounting. Available in both 120V and 240V/208V models — both can be hardwired or wired with a cord and plug depending on the available circuit.

Five-year warranty. Backed by an industry-leading five-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials.

Why hand dryers make business sense

Hand dryers eliminate the recurring cost of purchasing and restocking paper towels and reduce waste removal costs. A commercial restroom that goes through significant paper towel volume can typically recover the cost of a hand dryer installation within a few months — and eliminates the labor and supply chain management that paper towels require indefinitely.

Beyond cost, hand dryers eliminate paper towel mess — overflowing trash, wet towels on floors and counters, and clogged drains from towels flushed down toilets. The Ultronic's air purification mode adds a restroom hygiene benefit that paper towels simply cannot offer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Ultronic Plus and Ultronic Premium?
Housing material only — the Plus is alpine white polycarbonate at 6.2 lbs, the Premium is brushed stainless steel at 8.8 lbs. All performance specs, features, and warranty are identical.
